Great specials. Fantastic Italian good. Satisfied appetite without feeling too full. Great service and the owner knows how to please his customers. Thank you for a great dining experience. Try cannoli!! And if one of the specials sounds good, order it. I had a veal dish the I almost order ordered seconds for dessert.

I movd into the area approx 2 years ago. I have driven past Arugula Ristorante on numerous occasions but had not chosen it as a dining option until last evening. It is located in a very non-discript, small strip center located on Route 202 in Chadds Ford. We made a lst minute reservation and even though they said we may have a short wait the were able to fit us in for a 7:30 dinner reservation. We arrived on time and waited just a few minutes. While we waited a few couples; members of our Country Club came in and raved about their previous experiences at Arugua. Hostess, and servers were lovely. Amazing and delicious special salads and apps. Our meals were spectaular. Both my husband and I had a veal dish. He had veal parm and I had veal milinese and they were bth delicious. Rich and fresh coffee and delicious desserts desserts. Thee added bonus is that itt's a BYOB....you can not go wrong.

We enjoyed Mother's Day dinner at Arugula. What a warm, friendly, special find! I understand the restaurant is family-owned and the care and attention we received certainly was appreciated. Service was outstanding! The food was excellent. Don't miss their grilled Romaine salad with pancetta and goat cheese. Fantastic flavors and beautiful presentation. I enjoyed handmade ravioli filled with lobster with asparagus in a light tomato sauce. We would definitely come again!

Have been back two more times and how do I feel about Arugula's? Meh. There a few other Italian BYOs in the proximity and would be more likely to go to one of them. That said, service has always been great, food is just hit or miss.

IN SHOCK , SOOOOO good ....where have you been my friend, Arugula? My husband and I had a delicious dinner at Arugula last night. We ordered in such a way that we could share and taste a few different dishes and the waiters were happy to oblige. The course timing was perfect and the waitstaff were friendly and simply excellent servers. Top notch. First, the grilled romaine salad with caramelized onions was completely delicious. I would easily order the large size for lunch and beg for a protein to be added (as our host, Ray, suggested) . The eggplant pizzette was tasty. Second , we shared an unbelievable and simple pasta dish. I strong armed my hubby into a capellini dish with cherry tomatoes, argula, olive oil and garlic. AMAZING (with red or white wine). The chef split the dish for us and the portion was generous. It left hubby praising my choice!! Third, the main event. We split a fantastic veal dish, served with sausage and in a red sauce. The veal (cutlet style) was not breaded...thank god! It was so tender. Paired with the sausage I was in heaven. Plenty for two.The fresh bread was so fresh (hot!) it provided an excellent back drop for the veal, sausage and sauce. Arugula's prices are quite nice on the wallet! The BYOB aspect is just wonderful. Bring a bottle of Chianti Classico along and impress your friends or honey! The lunch menu looks amazing, can't wait to take some co-workers in! I will be a hero!!

I ordered take out and was told it would be ready in 15 minutes, which seemed a little fast for risotto. I ordered the calamari, caprese salad, mushroom and sausage risotto and the rigatoni with meatball/sauce. The calamari was really good, well seasoned and crispy. the caprese salad seemed like it was missing something. The cheese, basil and tomatoes were nice and fresh but that dish might be better served in the restaurant. The pasta was solid, the meatballs tender and flavorful. The risotto, which I was looking forward to the most was disappointing. I don't think it was arborio rice and there was almost no flavor in the rice. The sausage was good but didn't impart enough of its flavor to the dish. Overall, I might try it again, but will not order the risotto and caprese again.

I was craving Italian and my boyfriend and I decided that this BYOB spot would be a great place to go. The manager (the owner's son) came over and was very attentive to us in addition to our server. We started out with the calamari which were a bit tough and a bit on the heavier-breading side, but overall, not bad. Then, my boyfriend had the ravioli in a rose sauce. They were extremely decadent and creamy. Very delicious, but had I ordered it, I'm not sure I would have been able to eat more than 2 or 3. I was craving a red sauce, and the manager recommended a rigatoni in a pomodoro sauce with proschiutto and onions. It didn't sound completely my speed, but he assured me it was a unique dish that other places didn't offer and his father's specialty. He didn't lead me astray! It was sweet, salty, tangy, and just full of flavorful. It was amazing! We were too full for dessert, but we will definitely be back!

Came here with my son, my sister in law & brother in law on 5/17/14. The food was excellent, the service was great. My son the Chef, had the Branzino special he was impressed with his dish, the fish was slightly small but loved the sautéed broccoli. I had the Mussels in linguini that was just amazing. From the freshly baked bread with oil dipping to our side salads to the meals we all had everything was great. Our server Krista/Kristin was very attentive & professional, the wait staff was good as well. All around we had a good experience here and will definitely return. Also my brother in law brought his wine since they are BYOB they had stunning wine glasses which was very nice. My son who is a Chef and also specializes in Fine Italian cooking, will highly recommend this establishment too.

Really amazing, fresh, authentic italian. The Veal tortilloni is my favorite thing on the menu - if I had to pick! I've never had anything less than delicious here.

We have had a couple of good meals here but tonight was awful!!! Chicken parm was so chewy that I had to spit it out in my napkin, risotto that tasted like soap and monkfish that was chewy and fishy. Add on top of that the manager couldn't be any more obvious that he was ready for us to leave so he could flip the table. We were there for a 6:15 reservation and left at 7:30, I personally don't think that's a long dinner. Won't go back and wanted to like this BYOB that is so close by but I can't even make myself!!!

The authentic Italian dishes were very nicely presented and the portions were just right - not too small, not too big (American-style big). I had the Rigatoni Alla Siciliana, which was very good, though I thought the sauce was a bit on the acidic side. Sicilian tomato sauce needs to be a bit more on the sweet side. The Calamari were very tender and tasty.

I have been to Arugula a bunch of times because I just can't get enough! I recently held a housewarming party at my house and had Arugula cater with meatballs and sausage and peppers. Best decision! The food is still amazing even as take out for my party of 50 people! I highly recommend Arugula for ANY event, luncheon, dinner or even catering! They are very accommodating!

A friend at work had been a couple of times and said the food was good, so my husband and I decided to give it a try. Went on a Wednesday night, and were the only people there at first, so we got a little scared. No worries, though. Our food was absolutely delicious. Our waiter (Enrico) was attentive without being intrusive. I asked for a different kind of sauce for my entree, and the chef made something special just for me. We brought our own bottle of wine and were provided with an ice bucket and stand. We're planning to go back again. If it's just as good the second time, then I'll give it a five-star rating.

My boyfriend and I felt like having a nice date night, so we called for a table on Saturday night. Luckily we were able to get a table. We grabbed a bottle of wine and headed out to Arugula. I had heard good things from friends, so we were really excited to try it. Places like this are the reason you 1. Go out to dinner; 2. Go to a BYOB; and 3. Keep going out to dinner. We were greeted by the owner, when we arrived. He walked us to a table where we were immediately greeted by his son, Enrico. Immediately we felt like we were welcome into the family. Enrico explained all of the specials and asked us if we had any questions about the menu. My boyfriend and I are both Italian, so we're pretty picky. He had the chicken Marsala (on the menu) and I had one of the specials- egg-dipped chicken sautéed and served with smoked mozzarella, asparagus, and cherry tomatoes. The food was delish. The service was impeccable. The desserts- amazing. Try the Tiramisu. The owner makes it himself. These are also the best cannoli you will get outside of South Philly. We will be back again- and again. Well done Arugula!

The service here was beyond terrible. It is possible that, if you're a friend of the owner or a waiter you may experience better, but for us it was miserable. The hostess appeared annoyed to have people waiting to be let in. When we were finally seated the waitress came by in short order to tell us about the specials, then she vanished. We waited about 20 minutes to be able to place our order, and finally left in disgust. I can't speak to the food because we were never able to get to that point.

Made a reservation for 8pm on a Saturday night. We walked in and were hit with a very loud crowd & bright lighting. We almost walked out. The hostess greeted us and convinced us to stay. We waited 20 minutes for a table. When we were seated it took only a few minutes when we were greeted by our server, the son of the owner. Everything is cooked to order, so we anticipated a long wait for our entrees. Our appetizers came out in a timely fashion. The Involtini di Prosciutto was very good, and the Cesare salad was also very good. A little disappointed by the main dish I had-Involtini al Cognac ( a veal dish). The veal was a little over cooked. The fish of the day was excellent according to my sister. Zuppa di Pesce was also very good. My only recommendation is for the owner to make some adjustment to the lighting, a little dimmer. Felt like we were eating in a cafeteria, with all the loud conversations. They need some sound barriers to make it more pleasant. That's why only 3 stars.

Came here on a recommendation from family members....and it's right down the street from my house. Another great little Italian restaurant in the Chadds Ford area. The food was exceptional. Started off with apps....calamari, Mellon and prosciutto with Mozzarella. Also enjoyed a Caprese Salad. The Gnocchi special....infused with squid ink and surrounded by crab and shrimp in a white wine sauce was tasty. My fellow diners also enjoyed the Veal Chesapeake. Desserts were delicious! Chocolate mousse cake was decadent, but the lemoncello desert was incredible. Overall a great meal and great service. My only critique would be the atmosphere. The place needs a little warmth added to the decor. Some reviews noted it was like a cafeteria. I wouldn't go that far , but I understand the comments.

When I heard about a new italian restaurant in the area I was excited as there aren't many in northern delaware. As soon as I walked in I had a bad feeling because it felt like I had walked into a cafeteria. So I ordered a salad and ravioli in a cream sauce. The salad came out and it was drenched in dressing and tasted only like vinegar. It was bad. Then the ravioli came and they were definitely bought frozen and not home made. My fiancé had the meatball I could tell was frozen because it was like a sponge, oozing water when you pressed on it. Overall a bad experience.

I went to Argula for a birthday celebration. Being a vegetarian I always look at the menu online to see what they have in the way of vegetarian dishes. There were very few to pick from. I did notice a dish on the lunch menu which sounded great. It was basically grilled vegetables. When our server came I asked her if I would be able to get that. She said sure, no problem. After everyone ordered she came back to tell me I couldn't have it after all. The menus had already been collected, so I had no way of remembering the vegetarian choices. She suggested the vegetarian risotto, so I went with that rather than make a scene. I turned out to be risotto with tiny chunks of vegetables. Everyone else said their food was delicious. The lighting was too bright. All in all I would not go back. The menu had very few vegetarian selections and they could not manage to take some vegetables which I am sure they have and throw them on the grill for a few minutes. It wasn't even that busy. It is not that unusual to be a vegetarian these days. Restaurants should change with the times.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
